Mozart: Requiem

Mozart’s Requiem is a gripping choral masterpiece with an almost mythical genesis story. Written for a grieving patron, Mozart composed the piece in the most productive but final year of his life. Mozart’s widow later claimed that the composer believed he was writing the music to his own funeral as he became increasingly and painfully unwell. 

This concert sees the Cheltenham Bach Choir pair this iconic piece with the music of Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo, whose Sunrise Mass evokes an epic spiritual journey ‘from space to the earth... from child to adult’.
